Angra is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed 1991 in Sao Paulo by vocalist Andre Matos and guitarists Rafael Bittencourt and André Linhares, who were students together at Santa Marcelina Music College. They were joined by drummer Marcos Antunes and bassist Luís Mariutti. The band's style is power metal with progressive and neo-classical metal influences. They have gained popularity in Brazil as well as in Japan and Europe. Outstanding albums include Angels Cry, Holy Land, Rebirth and Temple of Shadows.
