Saturnus is a Danish gothic metal band formed 1991 in Copenhagen by Thomas Akim Grønbæk Jensen (vocals), Brian Pomy Hansen (bass), Anders Ro Nielsen (keyboards), Kim Sindahl (guitar) and Christian Brenner (guitar). The band has gone through eleven different guitarists since forming, and singer Jensen is the only continuous member of the band throughout it's lifetime. Saturnus play melodic death/doom metal with synthesized touches of gothic metal. In describing their music, critics have used terms such as "sublime", "atmospheric" and "sorrow filled", and likened them to acts such as My Dying Bride and November´s Doom. Not a very prolific band, from 1997's debut Paradise Belongs to You, through to their most recent Saturn in Ascension in 2012, they have only released four albums and three EPs. Their first three albums are the standouts: Paradise Belongs to You, Martyre, and Veronika Decides to Die.
