Carnival of Sound is a "lost" psychedelic pop album by Jan & Dean, primarily a Jan Berry solo effort, that was recorded in the late 1960s but not officially released until 2009. The album is known for its experimental sound and comparison to The Beach Boys' Smile. It was recorded sporadically from 1966 to 1968, as Jan Berry recovered from a near-fatal car accident, and features the work of legendary session musicians known as The Wrecking Crew. Dean Torrence was largely absent from the sessions, only appearing on one song, but he did design the album cover when it was eventually released.
