Rolling Stones | Beggars Banquet (Censored) | Album
Regular price
Released on 6 December 1968, Beggars Banquet is the seventh British and ninth American studio album by the English rock band The Rolling Stones. Marking a monumental musical shift, the album saw the band abandon the psychedelic experimentation of Their Satanic Majesties Request to return to their gritty, acoustic roots in Delta blues, country, and hard rock. It stands as the first Rolling Stones album produced by Jimmy Miller, whose collaborative work shaped the band's signature sound through their most acclaimed era.
Beggars Banquet has two different covers because the original "toilet" artwork was rejected by the band's record labels (Decca and London Records) for being offensive, which delayed the album's release by nearly six months in 1968. The "Invitation" cover version, styled like a formal 19th-century dinner party invitation, was issued as a quick compromise to get the album out.
