Released on Valentine's Day in 2000, Bloodflowers is a heavy, atmospheric return to form for The Cure. Robert Smith consciously positioned the record to complete a dark, introspective trilogy that began with 1982's Pornography and peaked with 1989's Disintegration. Following the erratic, horn-heavy pop experimentation of 1996's Wild Mood Swings, this album strips away blatant commercial ambitions in favour of patient, creeping gothic rock.
