Released in 1970, The Grass Is Greener is Colosseum's fascinating, US-only hybrid album that served as a transition point for the band's lineup. Published on Dunhill Records as an alternative to the British LP Valentyne Suite, the record captures a stellar collision of progressive rock, heavy jazz-fusion, and British blues-rock. It functions primarily to debut incoming guitarist and vocalist Dave "Clem" Clempson, who replaced founding member James Litherland.
