John Carpenter and Alan Howarth’s score for Halloween III: Season of the Witch is widely regarded as a synth-driven classic that often outshines the film it accompanies. Moving away from the iconic piano melody of the first two films, the duo created an experimental, purely electronic soundscape that defined the "horror synth" genre. Jettisoning the familiar 5/4 piano theme, the score uses a 9/16 against 4/4 electronic theme and focuses on experimental synth tones and dark ambient drones.
