Released in March 1981 on the Residents' Ralph Records label, Crowd Control is the third studio album by the Indiana-formed avant-garde/post-punk band MX-80 Sound. It is widely regarded as a darker, more simplified follow-up to their 1980 breakthrough Out of the Tunnel, refining their signature "scuzz" and angular noise-rock without losing their characteristic intensity. Critics generally view the album as a pioneering work that predated and influenced later movements like noise rock, shoegaze, and slowcore.
