Widely regarded as a classic of Space Rock and the Canterbury Scene, Fish Rising (1975) is the debut solo album by guitarist Steve Hillage. Recorded while Hillage was still a member of Gong, the album features most of that band's line-up from the You era, leading many fans to view it as a "lost" Gong album or a natural successor to their Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy. The album is defined by a "loose theme of fish and water," reflecting Hillage’s signature "hippie-dippy" mysticism and "space cadet" persona. It blends aggressive psychedelic rock with jazz-fusion and ambient soundscapes.
