"They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days in the Glittering World of the Salons" is the second full-length studio album by the Boston-based indie rock band Swirlies, released in 1996 through Taang! Records. The album represents a major sonic evolution for the band, moving beyond the standard lo-fi and American shoegaze templates of their 1993 debut Blonder Tongue Audio Baton. Co-produced alongside Rich Costey, the record seamlessly blends heavy, swirling guitars with experimental electronics, buzzing synthesizers, Krautrock rhythms, and dance beats.
