Essendon Airport | Palimpsest | Album
Regular price
Essendon Airport's 1982 album Palimpsest is a foundational document of Melbourne’s post-punk and No Wave scenes. Originally released on David Chesworth’s Innocent Records, it was later reissued by Chapter Music. The record is characterized as an "undead version of funk," blending eclectic influences including jazz, disco, electronica, and minimalism. It moved the band away from their initial duo-based "toy" aesthetic toward a rhythm-heavy, four-piece ensemble featuring Paul Fletcher on drums and Ian Cox on saxophone.
