Steely Dan’s Aja (1977) is a flawless classic of jazz-rock fusion and a high-water mark for studio production. Released at the height of punk rock’s raw rebellion, Walter Becker and Donald Fagen took the exact opposite track—delivering an album of obsessive sonic perfection, sophisticated harmonic progressions, and cryptic, cynical storytelling. It remains a legendary audio audiophile benchmark and one of the defining albums of the late 1970s.
