Boz Scaggs’ seventh studio album, Silk Degrees (1976), is widely regarded as a classic of "blue-eyed soul" and a foundational pillar of Yacht Rock. Critics and fans alike praise it as the creative and commercial zenith of Scaggs’ career. The album’s slick, sophisticated sound is attributed to a backing band of elite session musicians-David Paich, Jeff Porcaro, and David Hungate-who formed the core of the band Toto shortly after its release. Produced by Joe Wissert, the record is celebrated for its "warm sepia tint" and immaculate mid-70s analogue production that remains a benchmark for audiophiles today.
