Released on September 12, 2006, The Air Force is the fifth studio album by experimental indie band Xiu Xiu. Produced by Greg Saunier of Deerhoof, the album represents a distinct turning point in the band's catalog. It trades the raw, chaotic explosions of previous works like Fabulous Muscles for a more calculated, restrained, and occasionally "pop-oriented" avant-garde style.
