Melt-Banana "Cell-Scape"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, A-Zap Records, US, 2003, AZLP-0005, 0655035200415, First Issue

Cell-Scape (2003) is the fourth studio album by Japanese noise rock duo Melt-Banana. It represents a bridge between chaotic grindcore and highly structured electronic punk. The album features a noticeably clearer mix than their 1990s releases. Ichirou Agata uses effects pedals to make his guitar sound like a broken synthesizer. Yasuko Onuki delivers rapid-fire, high-pitched vocals that act as a percussion instrument. The album relies on a fast, mechanical drum machine paired with aggressive basslines.
