Mike Heron | Smiling Men With Bad Reputations | Album
Regular price
Mike Heron’s 1971 solo debut, Smiling Men with Bad Reputations, is a fascinating, highly eclectic departure from his work with The Incredible String Band (ISB). Produced by Joe Boyd and released on April 30, 1971, the album balances traditional, mystical folk with aggressive leaps into progressive rock, R&B, and world music. It is widely celebrated by critics and fans as a hidden gem of the era, famous for its star-studded guest list that reads like a "who’s who" of British rock royalty.
The album featured one of the first cover images by US photographer Karl Stoecker who later went on to contribute iconic images for many Art-rock bands including Roxy Music and Sparks.
