Zuckerzeit, released in 1974, is widely considered the masterpiece of German electronic duo Cluster (Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius). Produced by Michael Rother of Neu!, the album marked a radical shift from the band's previous sprawling, noisy improvisations toward concise, rhythmic, and melodic electronic pop. The album's use of primitive drum machines and short, catchy tracks is cited as a primary precursor to synthpop and modern IDM.
