Syd Barrett "Barrett"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Harvest, UK, 2014, SHSP 4007, 0825646310784, 180g Vinyl, Reissue

Syd Barrett’s second and final solo album, Barrett (1970), is often viewed as a more "together" yet significantly darker counterpart to his debut, The Madcap Laughs. Produced by his former Pink Floyd bandmates David Gilmour and Richard Wright, the album features a more consistent backing band but captures a songwriter whose creative spark was beginning to be consumed by mental decline. Unlike the sparse, skeletal arrangements of his first record, Barrett features a fuller sound with a steady rhythm section including Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie) on drums and Richard Wright on keyboards.

Syd Barrett's 1970 album Barrett featured a cover painting by Syd himself. Barrett viewed himself primarily as a visual artist, and after his Pink Floyd days devoted most of his time to painting.
