Tapper Zukie "Man Ah Warrior"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Lantern Records, Europe, 2023, LANR027, 7427255403678, Reissue

Man Ah Warrior by Tapper Zukie (originally released in 1973) is widely celebrated as a classic of roots reggae toasting and minimalist dub production. Though originally recorded in London with producer Clem Bushay without the young artist's knowledge that it would become a full-length LP, it achieved legendary punk-rock notoriety after being championed and reissued by Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye on her Mer label in 1977. Boasting a striking monochrome cover shot by Robert Mapplethorpe, the album serves as a timeless bridge between Jamaican sound systems and the late-'70s New York/London punk scene.
