Renaissance's 1977 album Novella is widely considered by critics and fans to be the final peak of the band's classic progressive rock era. While it did not quite scale the staggering heights of its direct predecessors Turn of the Cards and Scheherazade and Other Stories, it successfully delivered the band's trademark blend of classical music, folk, and symphonic rock before they shifted toward commercial pop.
