Vivian Stanshall’s Sir Henry at Rawlinson End (1978) is a deranged, deeply poetic work of British comic eccentricism. Born out of Stanshall's surreal spoken-word monologues for John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 sessions, the album functions as a dense, alcohol-soaked satire of the decaying English aristocracy. It remains an unclassifiable hybrid of music hall revue, progressive spoken word, and literary nonsense.
