The Aerosol Grey Machine is the debut studio album by the English progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator, released in September 1969. It was originally intended as a solo project for the band's lead singer, Peter Hammill, but was released under the band's name as part of a deal to release them from their contract with Mercury Records. Compared to the band's later, more definitive progressive rock albums, The Aerosol Grey Machine has a sound more rooted in the psychedelic rock and pop of the late 1960s.
