Khun Narin | Electric Phin Band | Album

The self-titled debut album by Khun Narin’s Electric Phin Band (2014, Innovative Leisure) is a hypnotic, raw, and exhilarating piece of psychedelic world music. Discovered via viral YouTube clips by Los Angeles producer Josh Marcy, this multi-generational troupe from the Phetchabun Province of rural Thailand plays phin prayuk—a heavily amplified, modernized style of traditional Thai folk and "party music" typically performed at local weddings, temple festivals, and funerals.
