Kyuss | Wretch | Album

Kyuss's 1991 debut studio album, Wretch, is widely viewed as a raw, fascinating time capsule of the stoner rock movement before the band fully weaponised their earth-shaking signature sound. Featuring a lineup of teenagers—Josh Homme on guitar, John Garcia on vocals, Brant Bjork on drums, and Nick Oliveri on bass (with original bassist Chris Cockrell on two demo tracks)—the album captures a band caught in a transition phase. They were shifting between traditional 1980s metal chugging, punk energy, and the heavy psychedelic grooves of the California desert.
