Various Artists | Avon Calling 2 (Comp.) | Album

Avon Calling 2 is a vital, 20-track archival compilation released in August 2010 by Bristol Archive Records and Heartbeat Records, serving as the official sequel to the seminal 1979 Bristol post-punk compilation Avon Calling. Subtitled "Forgotten Gems & Unknown Curios," the album unearths hidden, previously unreleased cassette demos and vault recordings from the regional Bristol music scene spanning 1978 to 1980. Rather than just a passive history lesson, it stands as an energetic, diverse, and surprisingly catchy alternative timeline of the UK's post-punk and new wave explosion.
