Wally Badarou's 1984 solo debut, Echoes, is a timeless electronic gem that defies rigid categorization. Recorded at the legendary Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas, the album serves as a masterclass in early MIDI and synthesis. Badarou-frequently celebrated as the "fifth member" of Level 42 and a key architect behind the sounds of Grace Jones, Talking Heads, and Fela Kuti-stepped out of the studio shadow to create what he described as the "soundtrack to an imaginary movie."
