"Aztecs Live" (1971) and its landmark successor "Aztecs Live! At Sunbury" (1972) by Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs are the definitive blueprints for Australian pub rock. Transitioning from his mid-1960s clean-cut pop image, Thorpe grew out his hair, cranked up a wall of Marshall amplifiers, and spearheaded a brutally loud, raw blues-boogie revolution.
