Play The Blues is a studio album by Chicago blues legends Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, released on 14 August 1972 by ATCO Records. Co-produced by Eric Clapton, Tom Dowd, and Ahmet Ertegun, the album showcases a mix of traditional Chicago blues and soul-infused R&B. Most of the tracks were cut at Criteria Studios in Miami during late 1970. Because those sessions yielded only eight complete songs, the duo teamed up with the J. Geils Band in Boston in April 1972 to record two additional tracks and finalize the album. Junior Wells (vocals, harmonica), Buddy Guy (lead guitar, vocals), Eric Clapton (rhythm and bottleneck guitar), Dr. John (piano/keys), A.C. Reed (tenor sax), and members of the J. Geils Band.
