Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band "Doc at the Radar Station"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Music on Vinyl, Europe, 2021, MOVLP2787, 600753923337, 180g Vinyl, Reissue

Released in 1980, Doc at the Radar Station is widely considered Captain Beefheart's (Don Van Vliet) strongest "comeback" album and a high point of his late-career renaissance. Critics often cite it as his most essential work since the legendary Trout Mask Replica, but with a leaner, "wiriier" sound that influenced the emerging punk and new wave scenes. The album is noted for its "tough, lean sound" and "ecstatic energy," largely attributed to a virtuosic new Magic Band and a quick recording process that preserved a "fiery quality".

Captain Beefheart's 1980 album Doc at the Radar Station features cover art by Don Van Vliet himself. Van Vliet was an accomplished artist and sculptor who created the cover art for several of his albums also including 'Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)'.
