Carpenters (1971) is the self-titled third studio album by the American pop duo the Carpenters. It is widely considered one of their most successful works, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and winning the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus. Fans often refer to it as the "Tan Album" due to the original LP's distinctive tan, envelope-style cover. While Karen Carpenter provides most of the lead vocals, Richard Carpenter sings lead on "Druscilla Penny", "Saturday", and parts of the Bacharach/David Medley.

The first issue of Carpenters' self-titled third album was released on A&M records in a matte-finish gimmick jacket with embossed logo on front cover, appearing as an inverted envelope with a slotted closure.
