Released in April 1970, Mona Bone Jakon is widely considered the pivotal "rebirth" album for Cat Stevens. After a life-threatening battle with tuberculosis and a long convalescence, Stevens abandoned his previous "pop star" image for a more intimate, stripped-down folk-rock sound. While it only achieved modest success upon its initial release, the album is now retrospectively viewed as a classic and the first of his three most iconic works (alongside Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat).

Cat Stevens' (Yusef) 3rd album Mona Bone Jakon from 1970 featured Yusef's artwork on the cover. He also provided the artwork for two other of his classics 'Tea For The Tillerman' and 'Teaser and the Firecat'.
