III (Temples of Boom) is the third studio album by American hip hop group Cypress Hill, released on October 31, 1995, by Ruffhouse and Columbia Records. The album marked a stylistic shift for the group, moving towards a darker, more tranquil, and spookier sound. Following the multi-platinum success of their previous albums, particularly Black Sunday (1993), Cypress Hill opted for a more introspective and gothic sound on III (Temples of Boom). Producer DJ Muggs incorporated eerie keyboards, sitar samples, and atmospheric, jazz-influenced loops to create a sound critics described as "vaguely threatening ambient hardcore"
