Damon Albarn "Dr Dee"

CD (NM) Near Mint - Parlophone, Europe, 2012, 5099995389325, First Issue, Jewel Case

Damon Albarn’s Dr Dee marks one of the most eccentric, ambitious, and deeply non-commercial chapters in the Blur and Gorillaz frontman's expansive career. Originally conceived as a stage opera alongside theatre director Rufus Norris, the studio album serves as a soundtrack to the life of John Dee-a 16th-century mathematician, astronomer, and occultist who advised Queen Elizabeth I. Far removed from Britpop or cartoon hip-hop, this project is a stately, melancholy blend of Elizabethan folk, early church music, and modern choral orchestration.
