Fat Mattress (1969) is the debut album by the British rock band founded by Noel Redding, best known as the bassist for The Jimi Hendrix Experience. While not as intense as Hendrix’s work, this album is a charming, often-overlooked collection of folk-rock, psych-pop, and dreamy melodies featuring tight harmonies, excellent guitar work, and the standout tracks "Magic Forest" and "All Night Drinker". The album is often described as dreamy, psychedelic folk-pop, similar in feel to Traffic or British pop-psych, rather than the heavy blues-rock of the Hendrix Experience.
