Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1985, Gash (Girls Against Sexist Hype) released this self-titled, 16-track full-length album. Recorded rawly on the drummer’s four-track recorder. The sheer velocity and metallic edge of the guitar work carries the record. Lyrically, the album was lightyears ahead of its time, tackling issues of deep-seated sexism and systemic oppression within a heavily male-dominated scene. It remains revered by punk purists as some of the finest, most aggressive 1980s hardcore punk.
