Life Before Insanity (2000) is the third studio album by the American blues-rock power trio Gov't Mule. It marks a transitional point in the band's discography, moving slightly away from the raw, unadorned trio jams of their first two releases toward more structured studio production. Notably, it is the final album recorded with founding bassist Allen Woody before his passing in August 2000.
