Amoroso is a landmark 1977 studio album by Brazilian bossa nova pioneer João Gilberto. Widely considered one of the definitive masterpieces of the genre, the album seamlessly blends Gilberto’s trademark minimalist guitar and intimate, whisper-soft vocals with lush, sophisticated orchestral arrangements conducted by the legendary German arranger Claus Ogerman. The record earned Gilberto a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Performance in 1978.
