The 1989 Mother Original Soundtrack composed by Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka, is widely reviewed as a groundbreaking, avant-garde masterpiece that completely redefined the potential of video game music. Released alongside Shigesato Itoi's Famicom RPG Mother (known as EarthBound Beginnings in the West), this studio album notably bypassed 8-bit chiptune limitations. Instead, Suzuki and Tanaka travelled to the UK to record a fully arranged, live-instrument pop album.
