The soundtrack for the film Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, is an album by the Kronos Quartet with music composed by Philip Glass. The original soundtrack album was released in December 1985 on the Nonesuch Records label. Kronos Quartet (string quartets), Michael Riesman (conductor), and a string orchestra and percussion ensemble. The score contributed to a "Best Artistic Contribution" award shared by Glass, the film's director Paul Schrader, and costume designer Eiko Ishioka at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival. The album contains 14 tracks that musically parallel the film's narrative structure.
