Kronos Quartet Performs Philip Glass was originally released in 1995 by Nonesuch Records and features four string quartets by the minimalist composer Philip Glass. The album features String Quartets Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5. String Quartet No. 5 was the first piece Philip Glass wrote specifically for the Kronos Quartet. The New York Times said the album "contains some of Glass's best music since Koyaanisqatsi," praising his "ear for sumptuous string sonorities".
