Lightnin', Sonny & Brownie (also released as Blues Hoot) is an exceptionally relaxed, intimate live documents of acoustic country blues. Recorded live at the Ash Grove folk club in Hollywood in August 1961, the album serves as a casual "blues summit" featuring Texas guitar icon Lightnin' Hopkins, alongside the premier Piedmont blues duo Sonny Terry (harmonica) and Brownie McGhee (guitar). Rather than a rehearsed concert, the album plays out like a nonchalant front-porch jam session.
