"Astral Traveling" (1973), the debut album by keyboardist Lonnie Liston Smith and his band The Cosmic Echoes, stands as a landmark release in spiritual jazz and jazz fusion. Released on Bob Thiele’s Flying Dutchman Records, this cosmic masterpiece successfully bridged the gap between avant-garde exploration and hypnotic, stress-reducing mood music.
