Released on 29 June 1999, Soundpieces: Da Antidote! is the debut album from Oxnard, California hip-hop trio Lootpack—comprising emcee Wildchild, DJ Romes, and the legendary producer/rapper Madlib. Serving as one of the definitive early anchors for Stones Throw Records, the project is a purist, anti-commercial manifesto against the "wack emcees" and mainstream pop-rap trends of the late-90s. While the album is universally celebrated for introducing Madlib’s unmatched, dusty production genius to a wider audience, it is also frequently critiqued for its over-encumbered tracklist.
