Madroom | I Am for an Art... | Album
The full title of this 1984 release by Australian alternative/post-punk band Madroom is I Am for an Art That Takes Its Forms From the Lines of Life Itself, That Twists and Extends and Accumulates and Spits and Drips and Is Heavy and Coarse and Blunt and Sweet and Stupid As Life Itself! The title borrows from the 1961 manifesto by Pop Art sculptor Claes Oldenburg. The album balances gritty, coarse, real-world lyricism with post-punk melodies. It takes cues from life's ordinary absurdities rather than high-concept gloss, fully embodying Oldenburg’s original manifesto of making art out of "everyday crap".
