Released in 1995 on Necropolis Records, Nifelheim is the self-titled debut album by Swedish black/thrash metal veterans Nifelheim. At a time when the second-wave black metal scene was leaning heavily into grandiose, atmospheric, and highly complex soundscapes, twin brothers Pelle "Hellbutcher" and Erik "Tyrant" Gustavsson looked backward to forge a raw, unholy, and unapologetically old-school assault.
