Released in 1972 on the short-lived Help! label, Frontiera by Procession is a landmark of Italian Progressive Rock (Rock Progressivo Italiano, or RPI) that stands out for its raw, guitar-driven aggression. While many of their contemporary Italian peers leaned heavily on keyboards, flutes, and classical symphonics, Procession delivered a volatile blend of heavy proto-metal riffing and delicate Mediterranean folk.
Italian progressive rock or Rock Progressivo Italiano (RPI), in the late 1960s and 1970s produced some of the best albums of the era, blending UK-American prog and psych influences with Italian classical traditions.
