Pure Saturday | Utopia | Album

Pure Saturday’s second album, Utopia (1999), stands as one of the most revered works of the Indonesian indie rock movement. Following the runaway commercial success of their iconic 1996 self-titled debut, the Bandung pioneers walked away from straightforward indie-pop formulas. Signing a one-album deal with major label Aquarius Musikindo, they instead delivered a dark, complex labyrinth of sound that alienated casual listeners at the time but solidified their status as sonic visionaries.
