Released in 1983 under the artistic stewardship of executive producer Jean-Michel Basquiat, the 10-minute experimental epic Beat Bop by graffiti pioneer Rammellzee and rapper K-Rob remains one of the most radical, enigmatic, and influential documents in hip-hop history. Originally pressed as a rare 500-copy run on Tartown Inc., it has transcended its test-pressing roots to become mythical—frequently cited as the holy grail of record collecting and the blueprint for the genre's avant-garde

Musician and Visual artist Ramellzee's pioneering disco-hip hop single Beat Bop features cover art by NYC based artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Basquiat was also quite active on the NYC underground music scene in the early 1980's.
