Sparks "Kimono My House"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Island, Europe, 2017, 4735903, 0602547359032, Remastered, 180g Vinyl

Released in May 1974 by Island Records, Kimono My House is the third studio album by the American duo Sparks (brothers Ron and Russell Mael). Widely celebrated as their commercial breakthrough and masterwork, the record seamlessly blends the grandiosity of glam rock with the sharp intellect of art pop, peaking at number 4 on the UK charts. Driven by Ron Mael’s hyper-kinetic songwriting and Russell Mael's astonishing, operatic falsetto, the album serves as a definitive blueprint for alternative pop and theatrical rock.

The album featured an image by photographer Karl Stoecker, who also did the glamour photos for Roxy Music's albums. The two women pictured, in kimono, were actresses Michi Hirota and Kuniko Okamura, members of Japan's Red Buddha Theatre.
