The Joker by the Steve Miller Band is widely regarded as a transition album that shifted the band from psychedelic blues-rock toward the polished, radio-friendly pop-rock that defined their commercial peak. Released on October 19, 1973, by Capitol Records, the album became the band's first major commercial breakthrough.
